What began as a personal solution soon became a passion.
In 2015, Coco, a determined young mother, created a moisturizer to care for her own dry skin.
Her travels throughout West Africa introduced her to the richness of cocoa butter, shea butter, and baobab oil, inspiring her to create her own body butters.
Other products left her skin feeling dry, tight, and uncomfortable. She wanted a moisturizer that could withstand the harsh climate where she lived and offer lasting comfort and nourishment. The improvement she experienced in her own skin became the beginning of Coco’s Butter.
A passion, developed
From a personal ritual to a family-owned company.
With the unwavering support of her husband, family, and friends, and encouraged by countless requests for her creations, Coco deepened her knowledge of cosmetic formulation, learning how to develop and refine even better products.
Years of research, testing, and refinement followed. Today, Coco’s Butter is a family-owned company built on a simple belief:

We love using exotic butters and oils from around the world for their skin benefits and the nourishment they bring. Our interest begins with nourishment. We look at how a butter or oil can help soften skin, support moisture retention, and serve the needs of the product we are creating. African favorites sit alongside exotic ingredients from around the world.
Extracts & naturally derived ingredients
These are also an important part of our formulas. We consider the intended benefit of each ingredient, its suitability for the product, and how it works with the rest of the formula. Every choice needs a reason.
Tradition & formulation
Traditional use gives us a starting point for discovery. Research and careful formulation guide what comes next. A celebrated ingredient still needs to be thoughtfully chosen and used in a well-developed formula.

We seek out high-quality ingredients, sourcing some directly from manufacturers. Then comes the work of turning those choices into a product with a clear purpose.
Our products have each taken more than four years to develop and refine. We test, adjust, and keep learning, considering performance, comfort, and the experience of using the finished product.
We keep asking, “Can this be better?” If it can, we keep working. We don’t cut corners to make a product faster or cheaper.

Packaging was part of that work. Where possible, we use recyclable and biodegradable materials. We continue to make better choices where we can.
